Earth’s Last Plea
A sonnet on our world’s cry for help
This is in response to a Prompt by Jason Edmunds at the Poetry Club.
Poetry prompt: If you were a poem with the opportunity to send a message to the world or speak to humanity, what would your message be?
Lungs of the world now gasp for air, not free, Rivers, once vibrant, bear their silent cries. Skies painted in grey, no blue do I see, Ash fields lie barren, under smoke-filled skies. Creatures of earth, sky, and sea find no peace, As homes are lost to flames and foul debris. Forests stand silent, their guardians cease, Oceans choke on refuse, humanity. Yet within despair, a flicker of hope, Actions small and yet large can turn the tide. Together, our efforts broaden the scope, Future, where all coexist side by side. Hear my plea, guardians of tomorrow, Restore the beauty, and heal the sorrow.

Authors Insights:
I have always advocated for environmental issues, and this prompt inspired me to write this sonnet on our problems. I hope you enjoyed it. I am also practising my sonnet poems, which are fun and challenging to write.
