“You can leave the table when you’ve wiped your entire plate clean,” Dad said. “If Lucky can do it, you can, too.”
“Lucky doesn’t have to eat broccoli,” Lucas protested, petting the family spaniel.
“It’s for your own good, son. Learn how to complete what you’ve started, and you’ll go far in life, and if you eat your vegetables, you’ll be healthier for it.”
“But Dad, what about you? Mom says you shouldn’t go to the bar tonight because you haven’t finished writing your anniversary speech.”
“Is that right, Luke? Wait until I find her and finish what she started.”
