But for now, let’s dive into how Netflix got all serious about people sharing passwords before, and whether Disney Plus is gonna do the same thing.

What happened to Netflix?

According to the new sheriff in town, your Netflix account is all about that “single household” life now. Yeah, you heard me right. It’s like Netflix is playing matchmaker, tying your account to one cozy nest.

Basically, if you’re bunking under the same roof, you’re golden. You can chill with all the shows and movies your heart desires.

But hold on, jet-setters, don’t book that ticket just yet. Netflix is cutting you some slack if you’re hitting the road — but with a catch. You can still catch your favorite stuff while lounging in hotel rooms or holiday hideaways. Cool, right? Well, not so fast. This passport to Netflix paradise only lasts a week. Yep, seven days. After that, it’s back to your home base.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. What about all you road warriors and globe-trotters out there? Well, here’s the buzzkill: if you’re living the suitcase life, you’ll be playing a little game of account re-authentication. Yeah, sounds fancy, but it’s just a fancy way of saying you’ll have to log in again and again. A bit of a hassle, huh?

But wait, there’s more. Remember the days of sharing Netflix love across households? Like, maybe your kid was at university or taking a gap year? Or maybe you and your ex were still on good enough terms to share an account for the kids? Well, those days might be numbered.

If your Netflix fam is spread out in different cribs, get ready to cough up some extra cash if you want them to keep streaming under your account.

These new rules have got some folks seeing red. It’s like Netflix pulled the rug out from under them, right?
