POETRY / WRITING PROMPT
Dear Me
Tapping into a self-care state of mind
I know I do not do enough and I take me for granted, but I resolve to rectify my much eggrecious erring. For there is nought to flourish if the seed remains unplanted, and thus I‘ll take concerted steps to nourish me with caring.
When I am sick I’ll give to me the extra time for resting, and when I’m struggling I will try to give me what I need. I will try not to wolf my food and leave space for digesting; I find that I often give me bad heartburn with my greed!
Endeavour, will I, not to work myself into the ground, and give instead to me and I some time to just enjoy a spot of reading, favourite films, or series me and I’ve found, a walk outside, or listening to the songs that bring us joy.
And in this way, I hope that I can show me that I cherish the way in which I carry me through every single day. And though it may mean doing things that some may see as selfish, through self-care I do humbly hope our hard work to repay.
With thanks to Galit Birk, PhD for this month’s Being Known writing prompt on Self Care [see link below], and for tagging me in her haiku:
I invite YOU — yes, YOU — to join in with this writing prompt, whether through poetry, self-reflective piece, or short story. Check out the original prompt invitation below, and please do tag me into your responses, too; I’d love to read them!
