OUR BODIES, OUR STORIES
Dear Breast Stories Writers and Readers,
We are all worthy

Dear Breast Stories Writers and Readers,
I started this publication because I was hoping to create a space where we, women, could talk about our own breasts. After lifetimes of being objectified, assaulted, gaslighted, oversexualized, threatened and god knows how many more daily assaults, this is our place.
What I didn’t anticipate was how many goosebumps and tears this pub would conjure up in me. You are all beautiful magical truthtellers.
I love goosebumps. I love tears that come from joy, connection, and revelations. The gratitude I feel because of your stories is life-affirming. It is that incomprehensible sliver of light that found its way through muddy skies. Every story I read here is as good as any great novel I have ever read. You are the gifted ones.
Your work is intimate, funny, brilliant, gritty, feminist, powerful, and revelatory. By telling your stories, you are adding essential stories to the world — you are balancing out the narrative on the women’s side of the scale, making the world wiser, more compassionate, better. I would say I’m not worthy, but we all are worthy. That is the point.
In this time in history when our rights are being gutted again, I want you to know I am so glad you are here with me, in this sacred place, where we tell the stories of our bodies. We are the narrators of our truths, our breasts, our ovaries, our uterus, our limbs, our cervix, our hearts, our vagina, our minds, our vulva, our history, our fallopian tube, and our lives.
If women are not the writers of our own body histories, then someone else will tell them for us. Fuck that. Not here. Not in our pub. Four old conservative dudes and one anti-woman woman are not speaking through us here. This is our book.
Thank you for sharing your stories with the world. Thank you for being brave. I know it is not easy talking about our breasts. Shame has kept us silent. I have learned so much about my own hangups here — that stem from a patriarchal, woman-fearing society. We are releasing each other from those shackles, one story at a time.
Keep educating me. Keep inspiring each other. Fuck the women haters. Support Planned Parenthood. Keep writing.
Your biggest fan,
Amy Sea
