The Boss is…72?

Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen was born in 1949 of Dutch-Irish-Italian descent and raised in Freehold, New Jersey. As a Catholic, Bruce was at constant odds with his school and upbringing.

“Blind faith in your leaders, or in anything, will get you killed.”

Bruce grew up listening first to Frank Sinatra on radio and then he saw Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan Show. By the time he saw the Beatles’ performance on the same program in 1964, he was hooked on a musical career. He bought his first guitar that same year.

It took Springsteen a while to gain a name in the music industry. After four years of critical acclaim but no commercial success, Bruce and the E Street Band spent 14 months in the recording studio.

The Born To Run album was released in August 1975 to coincide with a 10-night show in New York. The rest is rock and roll history.

Today is:

Chocolate Day — You’re welcome, Claire and Lucy.

Key Lime Pie Day — There’s nothing like the one they serve in Key West, frozen on a stick and dipped in dark chocolate.
