Mystery Misses

By Unknown author — The Christie Archive Trust, Public Domain

Dame Agatha Christie was born in 1890 to an Irish mother and a British army officer. The creator of Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot is the highest-selling fiction writer of all time. Her play The Mousetrap holds the record for the longest-running play in history.

Agatha famously disappeared for ten days after her husband left her in 1926. When she reappeared just as suddenly, Agatha had no memory of where she’d been.

“Nobody knows what another person is thinking. They may imagine they do, but they are nearly always wrong.”

It was never determined whether Christie was suffering from amnesia or if was an attempt to frame her husband. Agatha never mentioned it in her biography.

Today is:

Creme de Menthe Day — a nice addition to desserts Greenpeace Day — Activists on an old fishing boat founded the organization in 1973 to protest nuclear arms testing around the globe.

Musical Ride

Ford Motor Company began installing 8-track players as an option in 1965 for Mustang, Thunderbird, and Lincoln models. At first, the new style of music tapes was only available in Ford dealers’ parts departments.

Along with many other limitations with the technology, the tape was easily tangled inside car-mounted machines, making for an excess of roadside trash.

Interesting Notes

In 2014, Barbra Streisand performed for the first in 47 years on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Gone But Not Forgotten

Keyboard player and singer/ songwriter Richard Wright was a founding member of Pink Floyd. He died in 2008 from cancer at 65.
