Day Tripping: September 1
Funny Lady

Lily Tomlin was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1939. Her comedic career exploded with her character portrayals on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In in the sixties.
“I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific.”
With some success in comedy films, Tomlin expanded her range into dramatic roles on television and on Broadway. But, comedy is Tomlin’s first love, and she has scored Emys, Tonys, and Grammy awards.
She never made public statements about her sexuality, because living as a gay woman in the 70s and 80s dictated a different sentiment. But, after 42 years with the same partner, Lily finally married Jane Wagner in 2013.
