Day Tripping: August 25
Shaken Not Stirred

As a boy in Edinburgh, Sean Connery worked as a milkman. He was born in 1930 and after the milk delivery job he joined the Royal Navy.
After that, he became a champion bodybuilder before the acting bug got him. Then, the film industry came calling and a new superhero was born.
“I have always hated that damn James Bond. I’d like to kill him.”
Connery grew tired of the notoriety that came playing James Bond. Although he was happy to leave it behind, the role afforded Connery parts with some of Hollywood’s elite directors.
He finally earned an Academy Award in 1987 for The Untouchables, but his best performance is perhaps from The Man Who Would Be King.
He was knighted in 2000 by Queen Elizabeth II and was voted Scotland’s Greatest Living Treasure in 2011.
Today is:
Banana Split Day — it doesn’t get better than that.
Musical Ride
The best-selling basement recording of all time was released in 1976 with Boston’s self-titled album.
On A Sad Note
With great sadness, we learned the loss of another Rock legend, Charlie Watts. Rolling Stones drummer was a jazzman at heart, but he was also the steadying factor of the world’s greatest rock band.
Rest In Peace, Charlie.
Gone But Not Forgotten
John McCain was far more than a hero. He was a man of integrity. Not many politicians anywhere can make that claim. McCain passed away in 2018 at age 81.
Speaking of heroes, astronaut Neil Armstrong is sealed in history as the first human to ever walk on another space body. He died in 2012 at 82.
