Day Tripping: August 16
She’s Perrrfect

Born in 1933, Julie Newmar began her career as a prima ballerina at fifteen. It was her long legs and her dancing that gave her a break in Hollywood films.
“Tell me I’m beautiful, it’s nothing. Tell me I’m intellectual — I know it. Tell me I’m funny and it’s the greatest compliment in the world anyone could give me.”
Ms. Nemwar is indeed all of those things and more. She has performed extensively on Broadway, appeared in film, and received patents for inventing two pieces of women’s lingerie.
Newmar began investing in real estate during the eighties and was called an influencer in the improvement of several Los Angeles neighborhoods. But, it is her role as Catwoman on the TV Batman series that sealed her place as an icon.
