Day 19–100 Days Being Visible
I remember family time trumps work time on Saturdays

It’s Saturday, a day to be with family in the morning and evening and spend the afternoon writing. My partner and I have a bit of a Saturday ritual. We go out for breakfast, walk along the shore path of Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin, have a second coffee at a lake-side coffee cart and head home. This evening we went to a movie as a family. Family rituals and family outings are ways to be visible to each other; ways to show up in each other’s week and see each other. I am pleased, this evening, that I have kept my commitment to my family and not allowed myself to be drawn back into work.
Between walking and heading to the movie I wrote and updated my business website. I had drafted much of the copy back in November but had hesitated to update the public website. With my new commitment to being visible, I had no difficulty uploading and editing the words and the page layouts. The website is improved and will improve again when I update the sections I lost. I have been a great believer, theoretically, in an incremental approach to website design and improvement. I enjoyed today, putting the theory into practice. My website is improved and I am feeling liberated.
Knowledge
Today I did no more than use the knowledge that the best way to use the three hours I had available for working explicitly on being visible was to pick something I could write and publish and focus deeply on getting it done. I choose my website update. I loved that I deeply focussed on writing copy and learning the technical aspects of updating the web structure.
Progress
I published new copy and an improved home page layout to my website and wrote my Day-19 100 Days Being Visible article. I am on track.
