“Homes can be rebuilt; lives cannot,” she says, her words ringing with conviction. “Think of your children.”
“We’ll fight them off!” another villager shouts, drawing his sword.
“Not against an army of orcs,” Bruno says, his voice grave. “It is folly.”
“We cannot stand by and let them destroy our village,” a guardsman says firmly, his hand tightening on his spear.
Stepping up to the much shorter man, Dara looks down at him with a fierce gaze. “Then you will die.”
Her words hung in the air.
