Dancing Elephants Press 1st Book Project in 2024 — AI vs HI
Would you like to create a book with us? Submission guidelines

Let’s make another book together to encourage positivity and support writers all over the world.
Dancing Elephants Press is proud to present our new book idea for 2024. Our intent is to publish and distribute a print book — and you could be a contributing author.
Here are previous books we have published together.
DEP Book Project participants will be chosen based on their interest in participating and the quality of articles submitted on the AI vs HI topic.
We are looking for 31 quality stories from Medium writers and/or DEP editors. If we get an overwhelming response, we might decide to create a second book on this topic.
DEP’s Book Publishing Guidelines (stories that don’t conform can not be accepted):
- Submit a letter of interest. Tell us, in 300–500 words, why you want to participate in the AI vs HI book project. The deadline is Jan 15th, 2024. Send your letter to [email protected]
Our email address is [email protected]
Here’s an example from Carmen Micsa, MA in English, podcaster for one of our book projects.
2. The AI vs HI article must be submitted between January 1 and 31, 2024. We’ll consider research stories on AI and HI, a personal experience, or an opinion piece. If information is taken from another article or an article is cited, please list the references and sources in APA format.
3. Once you submit your letter of interest, publish it in the DEP publication. If you are not already a Dancing Elephants Press writer, see our submission guidelines for the publication.
4. Write your high-quality article on the topic of AI vs HI and submit it to Dancing Elephants Press Publication per the guidelines; this does not guarantee that you will be chosen to participate in the book. We prefer a word count of between 700 and 1,000 words. You may submit more than one story. Use topic tags #Dancingelephantspress and #Dep book project along with three others you choose.
5. Indicate in the subtitle that the article is for the book project: “DEP AI vs HI book project.”
6. Once the story has been published, you must create an MS Word or Google Doc version formatted exactly as described below and email it to us. We cannot take the time to reformat final submissions; please take the time to proofread and check your format against our styles. Don’t cut and paste the Medium version of your story. Format as specified in Word or Google Docs. Sorry, no exceptions. [email protected]
7. Body style: Times New Roman size 12. Title style: centered Times New Roman, bold, size 14.
8. Entries copied from Medium to Google Docs or Word will not be accepted. Copying from the Medium platform results in style changes and inconsistencies, which our publisher will reject. We are all volunteers and do not have the time or the manpower to fix formatting. Please PROOFREAD your submission.
9. If you are notified that your story has been selected to participate: Within 10 days, mail us a short bio of 500 words or fewer in Times New Roman 12 font with a high-resolution (300 dpi) headshot of you (3" by 3").
10. Don’t forget to also publish your author Bio on DEP on Medium.
Here’s an example of a biography from Dr. Preeti Singh
11. We’ll send you a DEP book project consent form via email. Please be sure to return the consent within 10 days of the date we send it to you.
12. Participate in promoting, marketing, and supporting the book we created together. Use social media and any other means you have. We’ll happily offer suggestions.
The Dancing Elephants Press editorial board will be the sole determiner of which stories are accepted. The board’s decision will be announced by Feb. 15th.
DEP reserves the right to change the above guidelines without notice.
You may also submit your AI vs. HI stories to the DEP contest, as explained below.
Leave a comment if you’re interested in participating in the book project. Please reach out with questions or concerns via comments or email.
