Oh, the sweet peace of disengagement… Of turning off and tuning out… Of closing off the mind to the mindlessness of others… Of saying, “It’s not that I can’t, I won’t…” Of taking the lemonade and pouring it down the sink… Of kicking the door shut, and letting it stay that way… Of no longer bothering to defy convention… Of letting people think what they will, regardless… Of refusing to stand fast, stand up, or stand out… Of deflecting the pain of sticks and stones… Of not giving a damn about damnation… Of giving up and giving in to the quietude… Of embracing the inevitability of the inevitable.

Sherry McGuinn is a slightly-twisted, longtime Chicago-area writer and award-winning screenwriter. She is currently pitching her newest screenplay, “The Month We Fell Apart,” a drama with dark, comedic overtones and inspired by a true story, as well as “DEAD TIRED,” a female-driven, ass-kicking thriller.
