You might wonder why I’m like that, could it be our love’s grown old?

Or could it be that who I am is not the one you sought.

That what you know to now be true is nothing like you thought?

If that’s the case, what have I done, what have I brought us to?

Is there still time to feed the fire, feel the heat between me and you?

Sherry McGuinn is a slightly-twisted, longtime Chicago-area writer and award-winning screenwriter. Her work has appeared in The Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, and numerous other publications.
