Comeback Tour
A poem

laying dormant, healing, it’s been a while.
behind the scenes, the mechanisms behind the artist, and the artist herself, do not rest, but rather create, and hone craft, during the periods of quiet and silence, that we might hear.
it’s been a while, and it’s entirely because this machine isn’t a machine but rather a body subject to ailments, mystery shenanigans if you will.
despite having no answers, I am in awe of what my body is capable of, weathering the hits and mending itself.
it’s been a while, and I’m ready to sing again.
Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) didn’t get to write as much in February as she’d like! Compared to previous months, this makes sense because February only has 28 days today so naturally, with fewer days, comes fewer hours to work on passion projects.
But another reason is because she’s been genuinely ill for a while, and after almost a month of investigation, she knows more about what the mystery ailment isn’t (i.e., not COVID!) than what it is. If you want to know what this journey has felt like, been like:
That’s why this poem prompt hit home particularly well. As the “comeback” poem, after not writing for KTHT in so long, it also represents the “comeback” of my body, that’s honestly been through so much. Not only was it dealing with this mystery pain, it also recovered from side effects from two treatments that weren’t the right treatment given the circumstances. It’s been such a wild ride y’all.
So, after all of this, it almost feels like a comeback tour. It feels like a musician who has been behind the scenes and not releasing content for several months, but suddenly they’re back with a delicious new song.
There was a time where I was definitely too bruised and tired to say this, but the comeback feels good. I feel energetic and empowered enough to be back on my feet to say this:
Fall down seven times, stand up eight.
Ps, my favourite singer is coming back soon with another album so that also fits the theme :)
