WALKING ROUTE 66

Chicago to L.A. — Recap Week 3

From Normal to Virden, Illinois.

Route 66 is America’s most famed highway. People come from all over the world to travel up or down the historic highway.

On July 20th, 2016, I set off to traverse the Historic Route 66 — from Chicago to Santa Monica — on foot.

Yes, it sounds crazy, but haven’t you ever had a crazy idea? Well, I decided to follow through on mine and finish it.

Here is the summary of week 3, from day 15 to Day 21, as I recount the odyssey and reflect on the memories and lessons learned.

Screenshot of GoogleMaps by the author.

While the distance traveled on the road was less than 90 miles, I walked well over a hundred miles while moving around looking for places to see and rest stops.

A New Beginning.

After almost abandoning the whole idea on day 13, I was able to get back on the road on day 15, after taking a day to rest and heal.

Day 15: Walking again.

Day 16: I am a baby

Day 17: Working the fair

Day 18: I am crazy

Day 19: Meet the bum

Day 20: Toastmasters is the best thing

Day 21: Almost jail

I am tagging some friends who I think will enjoy receiving a weekly recap. If you don’t want me to tag you, please mention it in the comments, and I will not include you next week.

If you are not on the list and would like to be on it, please leave me a note in the comments so I can add you.

Either way, I appreciate your support.
