Cheese Sandwiches
A Prompted Poem on Grills

who doesn’t love to eat a cheese sandwich melty, stringy, gooey, and chewy
add some tomato, or maybe sliced onion spices and peppers, there’s no wrong ingredient
but when it comes to the way you heat it that’s what’s most important
frying in a pan is my favorite a little butter on the bread adds a beautiful crisp
but if you don’t use a grill did you really make grilled cheese
This poem is about grilled cheese, and how it’s almost always misnamed because it isn’t made on a grill. It was inspired by Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她)’s prompt from a poem about paninis and/or grills. If you’d like to give it a go, check it out here:
