Chatterbox
A Poem
Coffee, cold in the cup - a morning of hectic creation
no, not writing, no just anxiety, impostor syndrome, a bit of misplaced rage, a dash of sadness -
a recipe for disaster, I know, we know, everyone just knows we cannot let it in, we cannot let it win
and we don’t, we won’t it’s just fleeting and freezing in moments
trying to nurture and nourish trying to feed and provide
and slowly calming down, gently talking to
the little voice inside - the poet pounding
on the chest, running around
the mind, she never rests, she never sleeps -
restless impatient whispering chatterbox! But sometimes she slows down
long enough, brief respite! She slows down long enough -
to write - and write.
