ChatGPT: Better Productivity and Quality? Or Does It Make Us Lazy?

And How to Use ChatGPT For Writers. The Right Way.

Ever since I first learned about ChatGPT, I was fascinated by it. Everyone and their grandma were using it. YouTubers and bloggers were coming up with new side hustles every day, and I watched them with interest.

In the right hands, ChatGPT can be an amazing tool, and in the wrong hands, dangerous. How to use ChatGPT then? Will it make me lazy?

I’ll answer these questions, and more, in this story.

Every writer has a unique style of writing.

When I studied at a university, I wrote countless essays and stories, and my professors were able to recognize my writing style even without checking who was the author. That’s when it hit me how writing style is important and unique.

What’s concerning, AI can imitate someone’s style of writing. Many skilled scammers take advantage of that: AI generates whole books and sells them under famous authors’ names. I wrote more about it in my story: The Dark Side of AI. Beware of Scams.

It’s one of the examples of how the AI shouldn’t be used.

Thankfully, AI detection tools help companies, professors, and teachers identify content that wasn’t written by a human. However, it’s not difficult to spot AI-generated text without AI content detectors; the text is often too polished, uninspiring, generic, and soulless.

People aren’t oblivious.

It doesn’t mean we should stop using AI tools, though.

How ChatGPT can help you write?

It’s good to embrace the thought that AI tools are here to stay.

If we don’t learn how to use them, we’ll fall behind.

AI tools are perfect for idea generation. They should be your assistants, helping you boost your productivity and creativity.

In my article: Infinite Inspiration: How to Never Run Out of Ideas as a Writer? I wrote about how to find inspiration, and boost creativity, and mentioned how ChatGPT can be used for generating ideas.

Does ChatGPT make writers lazy?

Yes and no.

If you solely depend on AI, making it produce the entire content for you, or at least generating some of it, you will lose your uniqueness and ability to write content you enjoy writing, and your readers enjoy reading.

Writing is difficult. However, the more you practice writing, the better you become at it.

If you write everything yourself, and only use AI to generate ideas, headlines, and article outlines, your content will stay unique and your productivity will increase.

Write and learn.

Conclusion

I know that AI side hustles and making money with ChatGPT sounds good to many people. But is it worth it?

It’s unethical for AI to generate the entire content and not be transparent about it. Especially when someone publishes it under a famous author’s name, or pretends to be an expert, while they don’t even understand what their book or article is about. It’s a scam.

Sooner or later, a person that does it, is going to get caught, lose the reader’s trust, be prosecuted, or have their account suspended.

AI tools are a great way to boost productivity and creativity, and they shouldn’t be misused.

Nobody should treat writing as a get-rich-quick scheme.
