Caring for your Emotions

Day 29: Staying balanced means spending time with your feelings

Feeling the energy of the earth is what I needed this morning. As I went on my daily back garden walk, I could feel that my energy was off. I was too much in my mind and not in my body. I started to look closely at the flowers I calmed my thoughts. I noticed that the sound of traffic on a major road nearby had a similar calming effect that the ocean waves do. I began to imagine that I was at the beach, waves crashing upon the shore, so relaxing to the soul. Then, I decided to take off my shoes, close my eyes, stand in a patch of grass, feel the sun on my skin, and feel the energy of the earth. I felt a tingling sensation in my hands and my arms. I have never felt that before. Nature was teaching me to calm my emotions and my thoughts so that I could feel the balance of energy all around me. This beautiful journey of noticing and tapping into energy is the path of The Infinite Self by Stuart Wilde. I am exploring this book for 100 days.

As an empath, I tend to feel and absorb the energy of the emotions of everyone around me. I must care for my inner self daily. This practice is one of being acutely aware of how I am feeling at every moment. If something doesn’t feel right to me, I know I must pay attention to my emotions.

The discipline is to begin to distance yourself from the common emotion and develop an emotional reality of your own. -Stuart Wilde

I have noticed that if I stay grounded, I stay balanced. Developing my reality with my emotions is something that I am working on at every moment. This morning when I noticed myself out of balance with my feelings, I took some action to care for myself by grounding myself and allowing myself to feel everything.

…As soon as you find yourself getting out of control, pull back and sit down; visualize yourself standing above yourself, look back at this lovely person that is you, and ask yourself, “What’s upsetting her?” or “What’s he angry about?”-Stuart Wilde

I have noticed that sometimes I let my thoughts run wild. They get the better of me. This morning felt like that. I was allowing lots of uncomfortable and negative thoughts to permeate my spirit early in the morning. I realized that this was my own doing. The flowers, the trees, and the grass were all still there, waiting for me as they were yesterday. That inner storm would pass. I could allow it to swirl in me, notice it, and let it go.

Emotional discipline is not buying the popular emotion, not buying into the collective ego concepts of lack, fear, insecurity — who’s going to provide for me? …..You’re in the flow. You’re in the arms of the God Force. You are the God Force. Never forget that. -Stuart Wilde

Part of not participating in the collective ego is not allowing the media to take over your spirit. I do not watch or read the news. I do not participate in social media other than sharing articles on Twitter and automatic posts from my newsletter. I know that this may sound extreme, but I feel in my heart that if I need to learn of something, it will find me. Otherwise, I am filling my inner being with negativity, doubt, fear, and lack. I cannot serve people from that negative space. To care for my emotions, I need to be balanced, open, and serene. If I allow the media to fill up my mind with fear, I cannot let the love pour out of my soul.

My prayer and intention for you today is that you care deeply for your emotions. They are there to teach you and to guide you. If you feel out of balance, sit down with yourself, and ask why. Find clarity by being curious about how you are feeling. Be gentle with yourself. Know that if you are feeling deep emotions, they are signaling something to you. Fully feel what is going on in your inner spirit.

How are you caring for your emotions today?
