Can You Fight Racism and Date Interracially?

Is it hypocritical to say you’re about Black empowerment but want to date a non-black person?

Can you be about Black empowerment if you are in an interracial relationship? This is a topic that comes to mind from time to time ever since I saw Dr. Umar Johnson’s — a Certified School Psychologist, Motivational Speaker, Pan-Africanist, and Doctor of Clinical Psychology — interviews on The Breakfast Club where he emphatically and firmly stated that he was totally against interracial dating and marriage.

Now I met this one brother, whose Black, at the gym and we talk from time to time so he knows where I stand politically and socially. We were having a conversation about race and relationships.

The guy asked, “Can you be about Black empowerment and date someone that’s outside of your race?”

“Well, that depends,” I responded.

He then said, “Yeah, man. Cause you know I got a thing for the white women. I usually will be seeing them a lot on campus and they are so fine.”

This nigga sounds coonish as hell, I thought. So I responded, “Ok, well, brother, that could be a problem if you’re trying to empower yourself.”

When it comes to Black empowerment and empowering ourselves, a lot of Black people have that dilemma. A lot of Black people will not be about the business of Black empowerment because they have their nose too far wide open for exotic or interracial — that’s a problem if you don't have your game straight.

A lot of times when you date anybody for that matter, you can be weak for sex from that person, whether it’s Black, white, or whoever, you’re going to lose. That loss is tenfold when you’re in an interracial situation and you have simp vibes.

Growing up, I’ve received a lot of advice from OGs, and one of them taught me the valuable lesson of never letting women know that you’re weak for pussy. Because once she knows that you’re weak for pussy, now she’s in a position where she can psychologically manipulate you and use you however she pleases. You need to have psychological strength.

The thing is that you can’t be the type of person that is weak for a certain sexual gratification based on race. When I hear a dude say that they got a thing for white women, or I got a thing for Spanish women, or I got a thing for Asian women, that means that you’re weak for those women. And when the women find that out, they will exploit that weakness.

This goes for Black women, too. They have some Black women that are out there that are only attracted to white dudes and white dudes know that they have a weakness for them and that’s why they deal with them a certain way. That’s how the Black woman becomes a bed-wench.

Look, my thing is this, I’m not here to monitor what men do with their dicks and what women do with their pussies. I don’t knock anybody for interracial dating, just as long as you remain on code when it comes to fighting systematic white supremacy. Because in other groups of society like the white folks, when you see a person from their race date one of us, they’re still going to be about the business of maintaining white supremacy. They’re going to take advantage of being with someone who’s psychologically weak to maintain what they’ve got going in their community.

So if you know that you are not psychologically fit, you shouldn’t date interracially if you don’t have enough confidence in yourself to empower yourself and not seek sexual acceptance in that relationship.

Now, again, not all Black people who date interracially are weak-minded and coons. Look at Byron Allen for example. This brother is married to a white woman but he’s still in the business of Black empowerment and Black economics. Look at George Lucas’ wife, Mellody Hobson. She was able to have him donate millions of dollars to Black and Hispanic college kids at a university at an arts program. She’s still about the business of looking out for her people.

So again, if you’re going to date interracially, be about Black empowerment.
