Lorenzo grins. “Your bravery in the face of death never ceases to amaze me.” He tilts his head, brows furrowed. “I may have use for you.”
With a wave of his hand, the shadows encase you in a shivering cocoon. The darkness envelops you, and your heart rate quickens. The lack of light is crushing, and your chest tightens as you breathe in the stale air.
The fond memories of your family play out in your mind, and warmth fills you as you drift off into a dream.
The last thing you remember before you wake is your mother’s embrace.
