Bill Was Stuck in a Life Raft
And Deb was patiently waiting to tell him her news…
This drabble (100-word story) is a response to Crush Hundo Edition’s word prompt. Today’s word is ANECDOCHE.
Anecdoche: A conversation in which everyone is talking but nobody is listening.
Deb had been waiting patiently for her husband Bill to wake up, and she was about to burst when he finally did.
“Babe I have the most incredible news…”
“Oh my god I had the craziest dream…” Bill yawned.
“…we’ve been waiting so long to hear it, I know…”
“…I was in this life raft with these total strangers…”
“…you’re just going to flip out when…”
“…and we’d been lost at sea for days…”
“…I tell you what I’m about to say…”
“…but we were bonded…”
“…are you ready?”
“…in this shared experience kind of way…”
“…I’m pregnant…”
“…wait, what?”
This 30th drabble is written as part of the “100 Story Challenge” by @Zane Dickens.
