This is a Continuation of my last Drabble with Ella and Cade:

Ella’s breath caught, her eyes fixed on Thorne, disbelief shadowing her features. “Thorne, why?” Her voice, a blend of betrayal and confusion, hung heavily in the air.

Thorne’s gaze was unwavering, his voice cold. “Sorry, Ella. It’s just business.” His confession sliced through the tension like a blade.

Cade staggered his wound, a vivid testament to their predicament. “Business? After everything, this is how it ends?” Anger and pain laced his words, his blue eyes stormier than Ella had ever seen them.

Ella struggled to comprehend, her mind racing. “Your loyalty was a lie, then? Our trust, our friendship?” She felt a chasm opening beneath her feet, her world tilting.

Thorne avoided her gaze, focusing instead on securing Cade’s wound with grim efficiency. “Not entirely. But choices are luxuries in our line of work.” His voice betrayed a hint of regret.

Cade winced as the heat seared his skin, his usual bravado absent. “And what about you, Ella? Will you let him take us without a fight?” His challenge was weak but determined.

Ella’s heart ached, torn between the brother-in-arms she thought she knew and the harsh reality unfolding. “I… I don’t know.” Her admission was a whisper of defeat.

Thorne’s expression softened for a moment, his eyes meeting Ella’s. “I wish there was another way. But your mother’s offer was too tempting to refuse.” His words were a mix of apology and resignation.

Cade’s laughter was bitter, the sound echoing off the stone walls as they marched towards the castle. “My freedom for a bag of gold. What a bargain.”

Ella’s silence was her shield, her thoughts a turbulent sea. She replayed their journey and battles and shared laughter, searching for any sign of Thorne’s impending betrayal.

Castle Escape Unveiled: A Tale of Determination, Unity, and Betrayal | Created With Bing AI by Author

As the castle gates loomed, Cade leaned closer, his voice a husky whisper. “We’re not done yet, Ella. There’s always a way out.”

Ella nodded, a flicker of resolve igniting within her. “Together, then. Until the end.” Her words were a vow, a promise that transcended their dire circumstances.

Thorne’s footsteps faltered as he led them through the dimly lit corridors, his resolve waning. “I’m sorry, truly. I didn’t want it to come to this.”

Cade scoffed, the sound harsh in the silence. “Save your apologies. We’ll need them where we’re going.”

Ella’s room was a gilded cage, the luxurious furnishings mocking her imprisonment. She paced, her mind racing with plans of escape, of rescue.

Cade’s cell was a stark contrast, the dank air and heavy chains a grim reminder of his fate. “Not exactly the heroic end I envisioned,” he mused, his voice echoing off the cold stone.

Their separation was a strategy, their captors assuming it would weaken them. But it only fueled their determination, their bond unbreakable even in the face of betrayal.

Ella’s nights were restless, her dreams haunted by memories of Thorne’s deceit, of Cade’s pain. “We’ll find a way,” she whispered to the silent room, her resolve hardening with each passing moment.

Cade’s spirit remained unbroken, his wit sharp even in the darkness of his cell. “They’ll need more than chains to hold a storm,” he vowed, his voice carrying a promise of retribution.

The days they blurred time a cruel companion in their separate confinements. But their resolve remained steadfast, their spirits unyielding.

Ella’s escape was a testament to her cunning, her knowledge of the castle’s secrets, and her key to freedom. She moved purposefully, her heart set on rescuing Cade and confronting Thorne.

Their reunion was a clash of emotions, relief and determination mingling as they faced their uncertain future. “Together,” they pledged, their voices united in resolve.

Thorne’s confrontation was inevitable, the showdown a test of loyalty, of truth. “I never wanted to hurt you,” he confessed, his weapon lowered in a gesture of surrender.

Ella’s response was fierce, her green eyes ablaze. “You chose your path, Thorne. Now we choose ours.”

Their escape was a race against time, the castle’s alarms a cacophony of urgency. But they moved as one, trusting each other as their greatest strength.
