Best Ways to Motivate Yourself to Take Action — Now!

What if there was a switch that could transform you?

There is — you have to Create It!

Self-motivation is important because it drives you to do better and meet your goals. You don’t let things get in your way. Now you have the confidence that you will achieve your goals. You may stumble once in a while but you get back on track and keep moving forward.

You Can Develop Self Motivation.

1. Create a goal: You could write down a goal in the biggest letters you can. You could place it where you can see it everyday. You could post it somewhere you can see it everyday and say repeatedly “I Am Doing This, Now!”. You could write it on Post It notes! Any kind of reminder will help.

2. Read motivational material: You could read books, watch videos, listen to CDs, listen to audios, listen to internet sites, etc. That would be good self motivation. You could listen to those audios and websites that have positive things to say. You could read those “think about me” books and emails that tell you you are great, etc.

3. Look for reasons to be motivated: You could look at yourself in the mirror and talk to yourself. Smile — tell yourself you’re doing it! Spend some time in the park enjoying yourself and visualizing your goals.

What if Your Goal is To Be An Great Writer on Medium?

I AM A GREAT WRITER — Every day in every way I am getting better and better at writing on Medium

Saying this to yourself — and out loud (when there is no one around) is actually telling your brain — your subconscious mind —

That YOU ARE a great writer.

Some would say — that since you’re just getting started — that you are lying to yourself.

Yes and No. It may not be true — YET!

If you keep saying it, writing it, repeating it, singing or screaming it(please not in public), — you will be also hearing yourself and motivating yourself.

I know it sounds crazy. Sounds like it does not work.

But it does !— you are actually programming your brain to believe that — YOU CAN!

Some People Never Take Action!

You could be aware of the reasons that you are motivated. Most of the time we are motivated by a lack of. This is why you see people who are broke, wonder why they aren’t motivated. That is the lack feeling that many don’t like. That’s the lack feeling, you want to avoid. There are plenty of opportunities and reasons to be motivated.

You’ve decided that you want to be motivated. So how do you get it? You have to do something that will move you toward your goals. Now that you know where you want to go, you have to take action. The next step is to find something that will move you towards your goals.

The best way to achieve your goals is to write them down. This is what you want to accomplish. Your list should be well developed, complete, and clear. You may have to change it, but once you have them written down more ideas will come to you. There is no better feeling than seeing your goals progress and being able to visualize yourself achieving them.

And then the last step is to take action toward your goals. You do not need to know how to do something. You only need to know what it is you want and to start taking small steps in that direction. The first step might be just deciding what it is you want. Write it down. Research about how other people have done it. More research. Meditate. More writing…

You might not have a complete GPS Map of how you will get there. However, just as a car with headlights can only see so far into the darkness, you too, will get your next step — when the time is right. I think some of us get stuck in the preparation mode, and never really get started! That leaves us to finally think that — It’s too hard — Maybe it is not for me.

Don’t fall for that! Unless you find and decide to change your course, your goals. Sometimes we want something because we see others that have it and they are happy. That may be OK for them, but maybe it is not really your thing. — What is your thing?

I suggest that you spend time alone, meditate, journal, and really ask yourself what you want. If you really want it, and it is for you, the journey of studying, planning to get there will be exciting and fun. If you are complaining and upset, step back and see what you are feeling.

“What you feel deeply is far more important than what you are thinking. You may think about doing something for a long time and never do it, but when you feel something deeply you are spurred to act — and God acts!”

“He who is the cause of all life acts through the sense of feeling. You can think of a thousand things, yet not be moved to act upon one of them. A deep conviction — felt, is far more important than anything you could ever think.” — Neville Goddard

This Feel It Real quote is from the Neville Goddard lecture

FEEL DEEPLY — 1969

Practice, Practice, Practice = Write, Write, Write

Practice your skills and take action. Wishing for it and wishing you have done something will never get you anywhere. You have to get out there and get things done. Now you know how you will accomplish your goals, but how you go about doing it is another story.

Now that you know how you want to achieve your goals, ask yourself these questions:

How can I achieve these goals?

How can I get these things done?

And How can I avoid bad habits that are keeping me from achieving these goals?

If you want to be a great writer, you have to keep writing.

Some of your writing may not be the best, that is okay.

Write, edit, publish, Then rinse and repeat. Over and over.

Have fun! Enjoy the process!
