Being Different
Myah felt different than the other kids…
Thank you to Crush Hundo Edition. Today’s word prompt is ALTERITY.
ALTERITY: The state of being other or different, diversity.
Myah had felt strange her entire life. The explanation was lingering there, right on the edge of her mind, just out of reach. She could never quite put it into words.
In elementary school, the kids used to tease her for being different. In middle school they started ignoring her, which was almost worse. But in high school she found her people.
Everyone called them “the outsiders”. They spent practically every waking hour together. Myah felt wanted for the first time in her life. And she didn’t cry herself to sleep anymore.
She simply tucked her tail into her pajamas and went to bed.
