The Team Mascot

A work of fiction…

Tom had been the Cavaliers mascot for three grueling years. And he was tired. He was tired of watching Women swoon and the crowd cheer. It was always for the team, and never for him.

He played the fool, that was his purpose. He was meant to run around like an idiot and entertain the masses.

He didn’t always feel that way. He loved the laughter in the beginning. He thrived on it. He’d never gotten that kind of attention before. It made him feel powerful.

But now he prayed to the old gods, and fire ran through his veins.

This 40th drabble is written as part of the “100 Story Challenge” by @Zane Dickens.

This experiment was originally done by Grim Flandango. The word today is MASCOT.
