In response to DEP Weekly Prompt 31/52

A writing prompt to bring us joy and mindful reflection- how lovely Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles
Earliest joyful memory
How far back are you able to remember your earliest memory? I recall this moment of tears and laughter age six months.
Waking one morning crying in my cot (crib), this was the first time I felt aware that I was helpless.
The walls in the bedroom were a shade of vanilla yellow with transfers of rabbits on the sides of my cot.
Hearing my cries, my father came with a warm bottle for my breakfast feed. I was feeling so upset and frustrated; Dad laughed at my tearful face and made attempts to make me laugh. The photo above depicts me laughing through tears at the same time. It is my earliest joyful memory.
The birth of my children
The birth of my two children are joyful moments I can’t describe. It is incredible to meet your newborn baby for the first time. Touching their little fingers and toes and staring into each other’s eyes as the intensity of love for them fills your heart.
50th birthday
I thoroughly enjoyed my 50th birthday celebrations. I enjoyed the day with my close family having a champagne afternoon tea. I received some beautiful gifts and flowers, and the sun came out for me too.

Strolls with my Dad
My father and I would always walk our little dog at night together. Sometimes we would catch each other’s eye with a knowing look; without saying a word, we would race each other down the street until we reached our gate.
I loved it when Dad would take me to the swings at the park. Always wanting to go higher and higher and never stop.

Flowers
Nature has always brought me great joy. Flowers are beautiful; I am joyful when admiring their perfect symmetry, scent, and color. As a child, I would make jars of rose petal perfume using the roses my father would grow.

Holland
My husband and I have visited Holland many times. I hold special memories of Holland. I loved the windmills, markets, and satisfying my appetite for aged Gouda cheese. I particularly enjoyed our visit to the historic city of Maastricht.

Bobby
I can’t end this writing piece without the addition of my precious dog, Bobby. Regardless of his rude antics, he is the most joyful happy dog, his character is infectious.
