Embracing Nature In The Workplace
In response to prompt 30 of 52 of DEP

Trees, flowers, bushes, lakes, rivers, and mountains, every part of nature has always fascinated me. Since my childhood, I have been an admirer of nature.
Whether at home or in the office, I love surrounding myself with nature.
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson, writer.
This quote encourages us to slow down, take a deep breath, and embrace the natural flow of life rather than rushing and stressing ourselves out.
It teaches us the value of patience and the importance of aligning our lives with the natural rhythm of the world around us.
By adopting the rate of nature and being patient, we can learn to appreciate the beauty and simplicity of life.
Last week, I signed up for a consulting engagement and have to work from the client’s office at the International Technology Park in Whitefield, Bangalore.
After spending an hour navigating the Bangalore traffic, when I reach this beautiful Technology park, all my fatigue disappears when I see the beauty of nature at every corner of this state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Every morning when I drive to work and enter this beautifully landscaped IT technology park in Whitefield Bangalore, I park my car at the roadside, take in the view of the brilliantly coloured trees and flowers and then proceed to my office.

My day in the office starts on a positive note. When I enter the office, from the office window, I see this giant tree with brightly coloured flowers.

During the lunch break, I make it a point to walk in nature.
I feel blessed to walk in such a well-maintained green space. There is beauty around every bend.
The view can make you dance around in circles.

Nature in window views has been linked to various outcomes such as lowering stress levels, coping with stress at work, and greater overall mental well-being.
Whenever I am tired or mentally stressed, I look at nature outside my office window and restore my state of mental fatigue.
Being in nature generates positive emotions.
“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery — air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, ‘This is what it is to be happy.” ‘ — Sylvia Plath
I experience happiness by appreciating natural beauty and human connection. Being present in the moment, enjoying the world around me, and finding joy in the simple things in life is more important.
Thank you to all the editors of this beautiful publication, Dr. Gabriella Korosi, Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles, Annelise Lords and Dr. Preeti Singh for such a lovely nature prompt that inspired me to write about my latest experience in nature.
