Trying to Find Peace in Pokhara

When your peace in nature is interrupted

I was really enjoying the tranquillity of Pokhara. In the morning we wandered up to the World Peace Pagoda, lovely in the sun on a hilltop overlooking the lake. It’s this little, white, Buddhist temple, and it’s so very cute. I felt so at peace, I could have sat up there all day. I certainly did not feel like going back to noisy Kathmandu.

We rented a row boat at Phewa lake and spent the afternoon tiring ourselves out before docking it on a small sandy bay to stop for lunch.

We sat looking at this view of the freshwater lake, with a glimpse of the icy Mountain tops of the Annapurna circuit peaking out behind the green hills. We relaxed in solitude and silence, drinking it all in.

We were rudely interrupted by a GIANT FART! The loudest fart I’ve ever heard. How rude! Who did that? I spun around and looked at my partner. He looked back at me equally shocked. Then we saw it. A goat — actually, goats, plural. Before long they were all farting. A symphony of farts was the soundtrack to our romantic picnic. Talk about the moment ruined! Oh you can’t help but laugh though, giggling at farts, I feel like I’m 12 years old.

The last morning we went to watch the sunrise over the Himalayas at Sarangkot. This picture really sums up Pokhara for me. The simplicity of nature’s artistry, after all this is what we all come here for. Those mountains.
