Hi, I'm A Shayens Abran the founder of Be Open publication! Welcome to the official guide for Be Open 100 Words Challenge! Our another fun writing challenge! :-)

Here we’ll explain about this challenge and how to participate, plus the simple rules and also an updated list of all the prompts!

Yes, we will keep a running list of the prompts, so you can come here for the 100 Words Challenge ideas anytime you wish. There is no time frame on any of the prompt!

So, what is the 100 Words Challenge?

The challenge's outline is it’s a short story prompt (for fiction or nonfiction) created by Be Open publication where every writer can join and explore their imaginations based on the prompts we provide.

Everyone (not limited to Be Open writers) are free to join and create responses to this challenge!

Writers can read the available prompts and then decide if they’d like to participate. Again, there are no time constraints on any of the prompt. Just explore your creative imagination and show it to the world! :-)

What’s its purpose exactly?

As any other prompt challenges, we hope it will encourage writer’s participation, generate creative thoughts, inspire new works of short story based on one story idea (a prompt) we provide regularly.

And as our motto is “be open”, the prompts we initiate will hopefully encourage writers to be more open about themselves, about their feelings about life, family, nature, society, etc.

How to participate? What're the rules?

  1. Title your story as you wish With subtitle: In response to (The particular prompt title you picked) Example: In response to Be Open 100 Words Challenge #1: Mother, Not always perfect, but still precious
  2. Use the story tag; 100 Words Challenge and Be Open. You can tag #100WordsChallenge and #beopenpub when publish it on social medias.
  3. Don't forget to put the link to the short story prompt you pick from our list at the bottom of your post to give credit (see the available prompts below this post). Mention me, the owner of Be Open pub: @shayens A Shayens Abran in your story, so I can take a look your story!
  4. Mention at least 5 Medium fellow writers in your story, so that they can participate too!
  5. Make sure to follow all of Be Open General Formatting story to make sure your story being approved by our editors! See the General formatting story here:
  • You can create responses (take this challenge) as many as you wish. You can pick the prompts randomly.
  • You can write even more than 100 to ±1500 words

Where can I publish my Be Open 100 Words Challenge response?

You can publish your piece wherever you choose (in your Medium profile, other publication even outside Be Open platform. However the first one should be to Be Open publication and don't forget to add our tags above! :-)
