Bard vs ChatGPT: A Head-to-Head Comparison of the Two Leading AI Chatbots
I’ll be throwing some prompts at both of them and seeing what kind of responses they come up with.
Up until now, I’ve been talking about ChatGPT, Microsoft Designer, AI tools, and all the latest updates in the world of AI.
But here’s something new for you: Bard is now available in a whopping 180 countries! You can give it a try too, and guess what? No sign-ups or phone numbers are required! Just click on this link and start asking whatever you want.
Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty and compare these two top-notch AI chatbots. I’ll be throwing some prompts at both of them and seeing what kind of responses they come up with.
But before we dive in, it’s important to note that Bard is still in the experimental phase. So, don’t be surprised if it occasionally spits out incorrect answers, just like ChatGPT did a few months ago.
Alright, with that out of the way, let the comparison begin!
1. Internet Access
Here’s the first jaw-dropping revelation: Bard has a mind-blowing power that sets it apart from ChatGPT.
It can actually tap into the internet all by itself, without relying on any third-party plugins. That means you can ask Bard absolutely anything under the sun, and it’ll fetch you the answers straight from the web!
To illustrate this mind-blowing capability, let’s use a real-time example. Currently, there’s a thrilling IPL cricket series happening in India. Now, as I write this post on May 12th, let’s put both Bard and ChatGPT to the test and find out the upcoming matches for the next few days.
First up, I’ll fire away my query at ChatGPT. And as expected, it falls short in the real-time information department. It doesn’t have the power to browse the internet and provide up-to-the-minute updates.

But hold on to your hats, because here comes Bard! This sensational chatbot has the incredible ability to browse the internet and fetch you the freshest, most current information out there. Talk about being a real-time wizard!

And the information it provided is literally correct.
2. The Multi-Response Wonder Chatbot

If you’ve tried both ChatGPT and Bard, you probably noticed something pretty cool about Bard. It’s like the speedy Gonzales of chatbots, leaving ChatGPT in the dust when it comes to being fast.
But wait, there’s more! Bard isn’t just about speed. It’s got this nifty trick up its sleeve that makes it even better. Picture this: you type in a prompt, and Bard gives you not one, not two, but a whopping three different responses. Talk about options!
So, let’s say the first response doesn’t quite hit the spot. No problem, you can simply hop over to the second or third response and see what they’ve got to say. It’s like having a trio of chatty buddies at your fingertips.
Now, here’s the scoop on ChatGPT. Bless its heart, it’s a decent chatbot, but it’s a one-trick pony. Unlike Bard, ChatGPT sticks to the old-school way of doing things. You input a prompt, and it only gives you one response. Yup, just one, and that’s all it wrote.
So, if you’re itching for speed and want the thrill of exploring multiple chat options, Bard is your go-to buddy.
3. Expert-Level Outputs
In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned that with the help of ChatGPT, you can generate expert-level outputs in minutes.
Let’s now compare based on this response.
First, I asked ChatGPT.

And based on this response, I wrote the next response.

The response provided by ChatGPT is precise, informative, and detailed.
Now, let’s continue and ask Bard.

Let’s proceed further.

The outline produced by ChatGPT is undoubtedly better — more precise and informative. However, Bard’s outline is also somewhat good.
4. Change the Tone
Now, let’s alter the tone of a few English sentences. For that, let’s consider the example that starts with ChatGPT.

Now, let’s look at the example from Bard.

In this case, I like both examples.
5. Recommending Books
I want to explore the capabilities of both AI tools in various ways. Since many of us enjoy reading books, let’s put them to the test in that context.

Here is the response from Bard.

Believe it or not, both of these tools have provided excellent book recommendations.
6. Summarizing Books
Whenever I want to read a new book, I often go and read the summary. It gives me a good idea of what the book is all about, how I can benefit from it, and whether I need to read it.
This is especially true for finance-related books, as many of them are copy-and-paste versions of others.

And now let’s see the summarization provided by Bard.

Clearly, ChatGPT is the winner here since it provides a more comprehensive and detailed summary of the book.
While Bard may offer an accurate summary, it lacks the informative depth that ChatGPT provides.
7. Write the Code
Now comes the best part, where my expertise lies: programming. So, I will ask a simple question to both AI chatbots.
Let’s start with ChatGPT.

Sounds good, right? The code is correct, and it even provides a warning that you need to set up a React project to run this code.
Now, let’s ask Bard the same question.

In my opinion, I prefer Bard’s response.
Besides providing the Hello World code, it also includes instructions on creating a React app and a step-by-step guide on where to copy and paste the code, as well as how to run it.
In my opinion, I find Bard to be a highly impressive chatbot, particularly considering its current experimental phase.
I must admit that I did not anticipate such remarkable responses from it. It piques my curiosity to contemplate what lies ahead for both Bard and its counterpart chatbot.
The future holds the promise of exciting developments and advancements in their capabilities, leaving us with much anticipation and eagerness to witness their progress.
Hope you like it.
That’s it — thanks.
