The Ballad of 3-Eyed Lou

It was late in the day, the sun was high I was sitting on the bench outside thinking I’d have to find my way home if Anne wasn’t gonna give me a ride. Don’t know why she has to be so wrong when I’ve given everything I can, but she woulda left me stranded on the side of the road if it wasn’t for that strange dark man. That strange man was Lou.

I had a job waiting west, a ways out there, on the coast just north of Monterey. And Lou was OK driving all those miles but he sure did have things to say. He started talkin’ a lot, about strange stuff so I kept my mouth shut mosta the time, but when his voice got gruff, saying weirder stuff the car began an upward climb. The car started to fly.

Lou said, “You see son, I’ve come to learn and it ain’t easy with you humans here. He took of his mask, said, “you don’t be afraid for there’s nothing here for you to fear.” But three eyes on his head and a face-splitting grin got me wishing I had a way out of there, thinkin’ mutilated cattle, anal probes stuck in, as the guy was taking off all his hair. He didn’t have any hair.

“Now I’m not gonna eat you, you understand I’m just looking for a friend today. Cause we’re gonna give up if you don’t give a hand and tell us why you wanna live this way. You let your government choose the way you live, and even how you drive your car ‘round. They take most of your money, one way or t’other, and they live high while you’re livin’ down, on the ground. You’re living way, way down.”

Well I got to thinking that he wasn’t all wrong but I said to Lou, “That’s not how I think. I live my life, and you can just follow me, but first let’s get a coupla drinks.” Now we went right down to a bar on the road barreling damn fast outa the sky. And we both got drunker than a coupla skunks and we laughed until we cried. Just laughed so hard we cried.

I got Lou a good job in Monterey, said he’s my 3-eyed friend from LA, and his long soft hands got weathered and tough from swinging that hammer all day. The days were long and the nights were sweet Lou began to kinda understand that life is what you can make of it and we don’t worry ‘bout the government man. Don’t worry about the man.

. . . . . . . . .👽. . . . . . . . .

Soon Lou sent the word way back up home that we weren’t such a bad lost case. We all made friends and had our fun, and happiness was ours to chase. Ol’ Lou got married and had 3-eyed kids, with a woman up from Mexico, and he flew them up to outer space, I really hated to see Lou go. Lou just had to go.

. . . . . . . . .👽. . . . . . . . .

So, ‘bout a year later everything changed, the aliens rooted out the government rats. And Lou came down to give me a job asked me to try on a different hat. I didn’t know I’d be the President but I changed the way it all was done. Made the world much greener and better for us and made time for everyone to have fun. Now we all have fun.

.

You gotta love that Lou.
