Astral Arcanist
The Interstellar Enchantress takes her place in the Pantheon of Light
This is the second in a series; if you haven’t read the first, here she is
On the shores of an unknown meteor Set like mystic moonstone in Orion’s shimmering girdle A cryptic crystal burning with Future shaping prophecy Cut with facets of History defining legacy
An infinite pool of violet waves Rolling and splashing amongst Cavernous valleys in Misting sprays and sloshing volleys From the crest of chartreuse Dunes rising all around an inland sea Vibrant and life-filled, constantly Birthing light and sound Reflecting an aurora sky Endless Glassy
With a clatterous wave Of percussive force Emerges Astral Arcanist The Interstellar Enchantress Infused with light Her glow, electron blue
She grows in power Essence coalescing Aggregate forming from the Jagged raw mass of Elements erupting from the Terrain part and parcel with the Cosmic ray swept land Like a towering colossus by the time She’s finished filling her lungs From the coruscating atmosphere Dancing on moonbeams Showered in star shine Finally, communed with reality Back where she belongs
With one wild blast, a note goes out An announcement of triumph Magic springs forth Between teeth and gums The spark of mana flicking to life As it rolls from the tongue in the void of the night Exploding in silence Magic feeds on air to ignite the mind’s eye The Interstellar Enchantress Heralds her arrival
As this wild storm of energy erupts A flying fish stewards her on Drifting currents of stardust and dreams To the far-flung corners where The universe starts to curve and Fold over itself Tucked in like a bed snugly made Turning upside down Riding falls of glittering nebulae streams Finding the cracks in spaces between space
Slipping through instead of running ahead The void-fashioned adept With eyes of power and tongue Silver-leafed The utterance of every arcane symbol, The ecstatic execution of every spell precedes The elevating steps and dashing leaps One by one on platforms of Transcendental energy Harnessed and woven from the fabric of reality
Drawn by the call A clear ringing note From the center of a universe Brand new
She pulls in shimmering star motes Until a cloud obscures her Radiant head to graceful toes Swishing across the distant emptiness She gathers up potency As vigor and mana grow
A trip across space and time Only serves to strengthen the mind New spells composed Memories reformed An entire lifetime reborn Into a cosmically birthed vessel An entity made of pure thaumaturgy As it deftly swarms energy, transmuting Like a wick counting down To an eventual ear-piercing reveal
Astral Arcanist now soars Meteoric in her own flight En route to heed the call of Bard, Mother of melodies Taking her place On the heavenly dais at Her sister’s right-hand
Together they rule Newly formed skies Adventure reborn In a cosmic pantheon of light
Waiting for the next of their kin to arrive lighting the beacon Calling all brethren to their undying sides Expanding the realm Raising the sky

This is the story of a cosmic entity being born from the stars themselves and finding its place in the cosmos. As with many forces of nature, we tend to personify them and attribute will, so I gave the concept of song a purpose and personal voice as she found her throne to recline upon. Watching the universe continue to revolve on its course as she spreads the symphony of the stars.
I had this concept for a while, just a single line, but when I went to see the Snow Waltz tour, the idea really formed into this narrative and started to pick up speed. I put an epic classical playlist on Spotify, and let the cosmos speak to me. I did do a little research, to make sure it wasn’t just a bunch of nonsense, though I am no scientist. It is still here for enjoyment as a poem first and foremost.
