CONVERTING THE MUSE INTO WORDS …

Hello Musers! Welcome to MuserScribe — your space to talk about the people or things that influence your writing. If the role of the Muse is to bring life and colour to your writing, this is the place to talk about it!

Backstory

MuserScribe has been in existence (with a combined following of 5,000+) on Facebook and Twitter since 2009, functioning as ‘go-to pages littered with writerly musings, advice, original writing prompts and more 💜’.

I’m a former Creative Writing instructor, guiding students of all levels, and have long been fascinated with the processes of writing and the elusive thing we call ‘the Muse’.

Converting the Muse into Words

It’s been my dream to convert MuserScribe into its own publication, a space for writers to write their stories and get us all thinking about how we transform our muse into words …

The Role of the Muse

It could be said the role of the muse is to ignite the spark of creativity and keep it aflame until our story is told. If you want to read a little more about the role of creativity and imagination — take a look here.

We can draw inspiration from anywhere, poetry, art, myths, fairy tales, old films, memories, photographs, trees, clouds, the moon, the stars, or the contents of our back pockets. Oh, and the actual Greek Muses …

Writing for MuserScribe

  1. Please follow MuserScribe — we want you to be part of our community!
  2. Clap for this post (hey, algorithms!) to help us connect with a wider, writerly audience!
  3. Respond to this article with ‘I would love to talk about my muse and write for MuserScribe!’. Don’t forget to add your @ username!

Please submit your stories in draft form.

Topics

  1. Write a stand-alone ‘about me’ story talking about the people, places, or events that first inspired you to become a writer;
  2. Write a story (fiction or non-fiction) then write an introduction talking about the inspiration behind your work. The introduction should preface the content of your story;
  3. If you want to talk about the inspiration behind a previously published piece of work, it’s acceptable to include a link (and also provides you with double exposure!) to that work in the body of your piece.
  4. Short form, personal essays, chapter extracts, fiction, poetry, non-fiction, or self-help stories with your discussion of the inspiration behind them are all welcomed.
  5. I’ve started the ball rolling should you need an example — see below …

As an editor, minor edits (usually for typos or spelling mishaps) may be made or private notes left on your articles. This is just part of an editor’s role in maintaining publication standards.

☆ We do not accept previously published pieces — these tend to disappear down Medium’s time well and our readers just won’t see them.

MuserScribe does not publish works that contain racism, sexism, erotica, explicit or pornographic material in any form.

Before submission, please review our submission and formatting guidelines:

If a draft isn’t ready for publication, MuserScribe will always follow up with a private note to the author. MuserScribe reserves the right to make minor changes to improve readability and ensure that publication standards and Medium rules are adhered to.

★ A big thank you from your Lead Editor.

Summary

My vision is to create a community of writers sharing what inspires them to write.

This sharing of ‘the muse’ is intended not only to help you reflect on your own creativity but form a library of collective processes for us all.

Happy Musings! ★。・:*:・゚☆

Baby Steps …

MuserScribe is in its infancy as a publication and development is an ongoing project. Thank you for your patience and interest!
