I have been writing online for two years now and if there is one particuler lesson I have to share it’s for sure going to be this one:

Just start and figure out later.

You don’t need to be perfect to start your part-time creator’s journey.

To get better it takes time and it’s true for anything in life.

It’s to keep showing up, work on your craft, and find ways to improve.

And ofcourse play with your strengths along the way.

If you want to be successful this year, it’s important to look through things and analyse what’s working and what isn’t.

I’ve created this list from my experience I gained after creating online for 2 years.

Hope this helps.

1/ Find your good:

Being good at something equally means something you love doing and enjoy.

It doesn’t necessaility means you need to be pro or expert.

Good enough is all you need.

Identify the things you are good at instead of thinking how you surpass other online creators.

The key is to find your voice, and create a unique category for yourself.

You will lift up the pressure of being competative and surpassing top creators.

What you can do is:

  • Identify your strenghths and skills.
  • Find the market gap where your unique skills and interest can help.
  • Create a sub-category for yourself.

For example- You like coaching, it doesn’t say what type of coaching you are providing.

Drill down to one more level.

It could be career, Life, lifestyle coaching etc.

This way you can create a value proposition for your content.

I love talking about life lessons around Mindfulness, Healthy Habits, and Self-Improvement techniques to help you live a life that you love & desire.

2/ Enagaging with other creators:

Engaging with other creators online is a part of being a creator.

It helps with:

  • Visibility
  • Build credibilty

Engaging with other creators is a powerful way to learn, grow, and find inspiration on our creative paths.

By connecting with fellow writers, content creators, and artists, we gain access to a wealth of knowledge, insights, and experiences.

What you can do is:

  • Joining writing communities.
  • Participating in workshops or webinars.
  • Simply engaging in conversations online.

Through these interactions, you not only broaden your horizons but also find a supportive network that understands the challenges and joys of the creative process.

3/ Measuring your progress and pivot:

Measuring your progress and being open to pivoting are essential aspects of personal growth and creative development.

They allow us to assess your current position, make adjustments as needed, and continue moving forward on your creative journeys.

Whether it’s in writing, creating content online, or pursuing any creative endeavor, these practices can help us navigate challenges, find our unique perspectives, and stay motivated to keep creating.

What you can do is:

  • Set small goals that can be measured and easy to acheive
  • Assess through what’s working in your favor
  • Define what success means to you.

4/ Share your unique prespectives:

As you embark on your creative journeys, start with sharing your unique perspectives with the world.

Each of us has a distinct voice and a set of experiences that shape our outlook on life.

No one has lived your life and no one has the experiences you have had.

By sharing our perspectives through our writing, content creation, or any other form of creative expression, we contribute to the diversity of ideas and inspire others with our authenticity.

Our unique perspectives can spark conversations, challenge norms, and open up new possibilities for ourselves and others.

What you can do is:

  • Write personal essays to reflect on your own life experiences.
  • Start a blog where you can regularly share your thoughts, ideas, and opinions that matter you the most.
  • Choose topics that resonate with you and provide your unique take on them.

5/ Lean on things that motivates and inspire you:

Motivation is an essential factor in sustaining our creative endeavors.

As creators, we often face challenges, self-doubt, and moments of stagnation.

There are days when I am stuck, unable to write a single line, and that tiny thought that pops up saying “you don’t have the talent or skils to write.

Everyone goes with this phase.

So find inspiration and motivation to keep creating, even during the difficult times.

This motivation can come from various sources.

My ways are:

  • Reading books by my favorite authors,
  • Listening to podcasts or interviews with successful creators,
  • Or seeking support from our creative communities.

By actively seeking motivation and surrounding ourselves with positive influences, we can overcome obstacles and continue to fuel our passion for creation.

What you can do is:

  • It could be family or a friend.
  • Things that put you on a good mood.
  • Curating envrionments that energies you.
  • Eliminating things that put you off or drain your energy.

6/ Start today

One of the first steps in creator’s journey is to start today.

It’s easy to get caught up in planning, researching, or waiting for the perfect moment to begin.

However, true progress can only be achieved by taking action and starting the creative process.

By starting today, we allow ourselves the opportunity to learn, grow, and refine our skills along the way.

It’s important to remember that progress is not always linear, and each step forward, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goals.

In conclusion,

Measuring progress, being open to pivoting, starting today, sharing our unique perspectives, engaging with other creators, measuring success, and finding motivation are all integral to our creative journeys.

By embracing these practices, we can navigate the challenges, find inspiration, and stay committed to our creative pursuits.

Writing is an art.

Though there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, but you can still save time by following this guide so that your efforts don’t go in vain.

So, let’s begin today, share our unique voices, connect with other creators, measure our progress, and stay motivated to create and make an impact in the online world.

Take a moment and use this guide to know where you’re going wrong and how you can work on it.

All the best!
