April Bursts Bloomingly into May!
PupperJack expects a joke; plus a Late, Great Jeff-Dog memory

After a cold snap, it suddenly became unseasonably warm and the plants around the neighbourhood answered this sharp change in temperature by leaping into bloom.
Almost as if they wanted to make the most of it before it gets cold again …

The header photo is ‘Chilean Glory Flower’; above left is a little clematis Montana which is about to break out into a veritable waterfall of white blooms; above the middle is a colour of japonica I’ve not come across before — I’m sure it’s supposed to be like that, but it makes me think it should be red but has faded in the sun.
Above right is a real wildflower that hasn’t realised it’s right in the middle of a city — it’s a wood sorrel. It’s trying to hide in a gap between someone’s garden fence and the wall that forms the pavement boundary. It’s keeping company with some lovely fresh-leaved ivy.

The wisteria everywhere is really coming into its own this year. It’s as if it was biding its time last year determined to make a real show in 2022. It’s certainly done that.
I benefit from it because I see it everywhere I walk PupperJack, plus there is one growing over the fence in my back garden from next door. Saves me getting my own!

The brambles are growing very well in my own back garden but the ladybirds need somewhere to call home!
I was ‘challenged’ to show ten pieces of art on Facebook over this last week — it’s a thing that’s supposed to spread and cover social media with positive stuff instead of all the rancid stuff that’s going around.
So I went rootling in the depths of my computer and found some pieces that haven’t seen the light of day for a few years.
Two of the pieces I used are: above left: ‘The Listener’; and above right: ‘The egg and spoon race’.
While I was looking for artwork I came across a lot of photos of my dog before PupperJack — The Late, The Great Jeff-Dog! Unbelievably, he died seven years ago.
In this photo above he was saying: “You are mistaken, Susan. I did not get on the bed; the bed got under me.”
He was a bit of a philosopher, was Jeff-Dog.

And here’s PupperJack demanding a joke. I’m giving it some thought. He likes jokes, does PupperJack. But he’s a bit fussy.
When I think what joke to share with him, I’ll share it with you, too.
And here it is:
Dennett started the Photo-a-Day Challenge to help combat the pandemic blues. I’m delighted that she is continuing to do so despite Medium’s sabotage of our picture liberties.
