Another DC Villain May Have Been Confirmed for the Second Joker Movie
Set photos of Joker: Folie à Deux suggest the inclusion of a popular Batman villain.
Joker: Folie à Deux is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 psychological thriller, Joker.
The first film provided a revisionist origin story for the titular character, Arthur Fleck, chronicling his descent into madness and the nihilistic counterculture that his actions inspired in a dystopian Gotham City.
Although the film diverged from the character’s traditional portrayal in comic books and animation, it was generally well-received by audiences and critics alike, leading to widespread anticipation for the sequel.
Despite concerns that a follow-up to Joker would struggle to maintain the original film's quality, the project has already begun filming, and recent set photos posted by the Instagram account hypefilo have generated considerable buzz among fans.
The images, taken from the same shoot that provided the first glimpse of the protagonist’s love interest, appear to confirm the involvement of another prominent Batman villain in the upcoming project.
The protesters featured in the photos hold signs referencing Harvey Dent, the alter-ego of Two-Face, a character who transforms from a respected Gotham district attorney into a violent and unhinged criminal.
While the inclusion of Harvey Dent in Joker: Folie à Deux is likely to generate excitement among Batman fans, how prominently the character will feature in the film remains to be seen.
Given the scope and tone of the first film, which was decidedly isolated from the broader DC canon, Dent’s appearance may be limited to a brief cameo.
Nonetheless, the inclusion of Dent will provide a stronger connection to the source material and give the sequel a more cohesive narrative structure.
This is similar to the addition of another iconic Batman character, Harley Quinn, whose inclusion was officially confirmed by Lady Gaga in a musical teaser released in August 2022.
Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released in theaters on October 4, 2024, and is sure to be one of the most highly anticipated films of the year.
The sequel has a lot to live up to, given the critical and commercial success of its predecessor, but the involvement of additional Batman villains and a stronger connection to the source material are sure to excite fans of the franchise.

Whether or not the film will be able to match the quality and impact of the original remains to be seen.
