An Amazing Morning Drive From Ooty To Conoor

A great journey- DEP Photography prompt

What do I see when I look at nature and see the colorful hills and valleys?

Recently I was traveling around and saw many beautiful sights. God has created nature to love and be kind to human beings and to give them hope and happiness.

This is how I felt one morning. I am grateful to God who created the beautiful earth and heaven.

I wanted to be silently looking at the sky the forests on the hills, the birds, and the people around. I kept thanking God.

The drive from Ooty to Coonoor was delightful. Everywhere there was mist on the mountains.

It had been raining a lot. It was splashing in the morning when we left.

On the way, we saw green vegetation in the mountains and a lot of waterfalls. The waterfalls made the scenery delightful.

Both my friend Madhulika and I were lost in our own thoughts when suddenly she would point out. “See another waterfall!” It was cool but not very cold and very enjoyable.

Such beautiful pictures of nature that you photograph yourself become loved memories.

Then we saw the picturesque forest. It was amazing. I was wrapt with the lovely scent of the forest trees and wanted the taxi man to stop for a long but he said that time was running short.

Anyway I had enough time as I still stopped him and wandered inside the beautiful forest and was not afraid of wild animals and snakes but I do not like snakes so decided to take some precautions but when you love nature you just look and forget everything.

From afar I could see an elephant but since the people told me they are not trained and can even harm you, I decided to listen to the good advice and run away.

We saw another waterfall and rain splashing away. the mist was clearing out as the day was more discernable. We drove on taking the bends and turns as the vehicle moved in circles.

There was another waterfall on the way. This one had water gushing down loudly making a charming sound.

I find waterfalls scenic and spiritual. so I wanted the taxi driver to stop again for a while so that I could gaze at the waterfalls on the way.

I noticed we were sometimes going uphill and sometimes going downhill. Since Connor was a little lower than Ooty it looked as though we were going slightly downhill finally.

When I first saw this amazing leveled grass and lawn, I knew we had arrived at Connor the naval base which was the reason for the wonderful maintenance.

The place showed neatness and discipline when I looked at it.

Dunmore House at Connor was established during the British rule as the Naval Hydrographic Drawing Office (NHDO). After India became independent NHDO was shifted to Dehradun and Dunmore House was converted into a Holiday Home for serving and retired Naval Officers and their families.

My friend’s husband had been in the Navy and that is how we got a booking to stay there.

You can see the two figures in this picture that are making maps by turning the wheel around and using a measuring tape. One of the figures is doing something with a measuring tape.

Finally, this particular aircraft-looking thing was very intriguing. I looked at the little board. It reads that it is a chariot underwater craft and weighs 2350 kilograms. This existed since 1892.

Thank you Annelise Lords for this excellent prompt.
