Many wonder how to spend the summer in an original way. Volunteering can be an alternative idea. The protection of nature and animals is among the most exciting initiatives.

In Italy, for example, there is the marine protected area of Punta Campanella. It is looking for enthusiasts of the environment. They will be able to patrol the beaches of the Campania Region, the Cilento area, and other locations.

The main task will be to survey the nesting of the Caretta Caretta sea turtles. Participants must make swimmers aware of the presence of these animals. In 2021, 3 thousand were born.

They will work with specialized personnel from various associations. Volunteers will go to locate the nests of sea turtles at the first light of dawn. Then they will guard them until they hatch.

The duration of the day and night shifts is a max of 6 hours. The search period for traces runs from 6 June to 7 August, and the garrison of the nests from 1 August to 30 September.

Volunteers will have beds in shared rooms in some localities in the area. Those on holiday nearby can also join the project.
