Amedeo Doda has jumped to the headlines because he lives by traveling the world. His budget is only one thousand euros per month (about a thousand dollars). In this way, he has already traveled to 47 countries and covered more than 36 thousand kilometers.
He is 65 years old and lives in the province of Vicenza, Italy. The thousand euros a month comes from the rent of his bar. Before giving up everything he had succeeded for 30 years.
Amedeo sleeps in hostels, to meet people like him. He comes home every two years, but only for 30 days. It ensures that the cost of living is low in many countries of the world.
He has lived like this for about 10 years, ever since he lost his wife in 2011. I understand that the loss prompted him to open a Twitter profile. There he poured a few drops of pain.
He then left. He spent 6 years in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Then he moved to Asia between Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. Then again Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Iran.
In 2 years he will withdraw his pension. At that point, he hopes to be able to further broaden his “reach”. Corriere del Veneto interviewed Amedeo while he is in Karakol, Kyrgyzstan. He speaks English and Spanish, “the Google translator does the rest”.
His answer to the question is very interesting: “Where was it good abroad? Where is it easy to build relationships with the locals? ”.
