AI Image-Generators and Ethical Concerns

A significant concern has emerged regarding AI image-generators being trained on explicit photos of children. The Stanford Internet Observatory identified illegal material in the LAION dataset, used by many open source and commercial AI image generators, including Stable Diffusion and Imagen. LAION, a nonprofit organization, has since taken down its training data and pledged to remove the offensive materials before republishing it.

MIT researchers have identified a new class of antibiotic candidates using AI. These compounds can potentially kill methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a bacterium responsible for deadly infections.
