AI vs. HI Contest Winners

The list.

Photo by Jo Jo on Unsplash

As a former football athlete, I get the concept of winners. When it comes to writing, there aren’t any losers. There are only those that didn’t get on the list.

Our Thinking

When we kicked off the HI Movement, we knew there would be a lot of interest. People still don’t understand this issue fully. I’m not sure that, as mere mortals, we ever will understand how this issue will fully impact us as writers and readers.

I know that writers who use AI without saying so are in violation of Medium’s own rules. There are also violating moral codes, depending on who you are.

To pass off AI as a writer’s own human intelligence is wrong.

The Stories

Winner for the best Poem:

Alison McBain’s Anthem For Humanity presents this story in a whole new way.

Articles and stories are next. I feel bad that we had to select from all the stories submitted first, second, and third place. All the stories submitted can be found here.

First Place is Maryan Pelland OnText.com. Her background and experience uniquely qualify her as a really well-informed writer in the AI space. She sees the bigger HI picture that is emerging. Her advocacy and discussion of the state-of-the-art will absolutely give you pause.

Second Place is Warren Brown. He’s a prolific writer with a firm handle on how AI and HI can and should be used. You may disagree with his position, but this article (and many of his others) are thought-provoking.

Third Place is Katharine Valentino. She’s someone who sounded the alarm about AI and Medium early on. Her NO AI position and the graphic she designed are being used all over the Medium universe.

Thank You

Please accept our special thanks for all the submissions. It’s greatly appreciated.
