Advice For New Writers

Believe in yourself

I recently produced my first ever video for Kristina God Kickstarter Boot Camp, I would love to hear some feedback from the audience (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), but until then, I wanted to share one of my thoughts with you.

Like most new writers on the Medium platform, I had one main floor, which was a belief in my own ability to write. Who would want to read what I write? Is my writing any good? How do I gain a single follower?

Writing is easy; all I needed to do was chuck a load of words into a document, promote it, and thousands of dollars would come my way, easy!

Um, no, not easy!

My first few articles were a flop; they were terrible, awful, of course, that does not help one's confidence, struggling to receive comments and claps, my thoughts were that writing was not for me.

I tried to carry on nevertheless and decided rather than self publish, I would write for a publication; I just needed to get one article accepted to a significant publication. Then, the world would be my oyster.

Nope! that did not work either, shucks!

My next step was the making of myself on Medium. Do I quit or power through? A question I asked myself, I started my own publication, "New Writers Welcome", followed by "What is love to you?" and the rest is history, as they say.

What did I have that some other writers don't?

The belief in myself and the courage to carry on

I have a motto #Strongertogether; there are people on Medium who are genuinely here to try and help you, find a Medium partner or two, build a relationship with them, and grow together. I did and have seen the rewards because of it.

Don't try and friend people like Zulie Rane; whilst she is the queen of Medium, she will have thousands of tags daily and will not be able to read most of them.

Please believe in yourself, write about your passion, think of the value it would give to any potential reader and give them a reason to engage with you.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask, please reply in the comments section, I look forward to engaging with you.

Please would you buy me a Ko-fi
