About Me [Updated]
Where I came from and where I’m going

Hiddy ho, my fellow writers, readers, friends, and editors (in my Gumby voice)!
Who are you?
I’m Quaisha Thornton, and I’ve been a writer on Medium since 2014.
I became a member of Medium in February 2023. I joined the MPP in July or August 2023.
I shared 2 poems in 2014, left, then came back 2 years later, and kept writing and sharing my journey and poems—a few every year—until this year, when I decided to bite the bullet and officially call myself a writer and start to build a consistent writing career.
What do you write about?
I am still narrowing down my niche; however, I write about self-improvement, growth hacking, productivity, inspiration, power motivators, life lessons, my personal life, my journey into a writing career, and poetry.
What education do you have?
I have a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering technology. Most of my professional career didn’t include using this degree, but I enjoyed learning it.
I worked in market research, healthcare, civil service, and retail, but my favorite industry is marketing. I stumbled on it by coincidence, and it became how I earned my first few dollars online as an entrepreneur.
I have a background in affiliate marketing, video game marketing, website development and management, forum/community administration, podcasting, editorial management, editorship (features editor, news editor, EIC), and strategic partnerships, just to name a few.
What do I do now?
On Medium, I’m the founder and editor of my first publication, The Wrte Stuff. (we are accepting new writers, click here for details)
I'm also a writer for several other publications, such as Illumination, Short.Sweet.Valuable, write regularly, just to name a few.
I founded and manage a few blogs, including Nature’s Estate, Pay Ur Price, TGSETX, Now That’s A House, QT’s Smoothies & Sodas, 30 Plus & Pregnant and Quaisha Ladyboss.
I am also the owner/founder/admin of several group communities on Facebook and MeWe, mostly based on video games and other entertainment topics. If you want to join them, let me know in the comments.
Pretty soon, I am going to start two podcasts—poetry and a video game-based podcast—and also write and publish my first book.
What do you do for work?
I’m in the market for a typical 9–5 job or part-time work, preferrably in the writing space; however, I am monetizing my work and doing affiliate marketing as side hustles.
Why did you start writing on Medium?
I heard it was the next best thing for writers to share their talent on a widely recognized platform, and it was based on a minimal style of blogging. I think when I joined, there was no MPP at the time.
Are you enjoying Medium?
Yes. Very much so.
What do you like about it?
I particularly enjoy the comments I receive, and I can respond and have a conversation. I also like reading my favorite writers new work. I like how Medium allows you to build a community.
What were your first articles?
There were two poems:
What is your best article to date?
Its a tie between these two:
I published 87 stories in 19 days for a new pub
Poem: Growth Hacking—7 Tips To Self-Growth
What are your interests?
Aside from writing and poetry, I have a major interest in video games. Yes, I’m a hardcore gamer, or at least I was until I started having children; now I’m a hardcore, less-than-part-timer gamer.
I also love different genres of music. My fav genres are Metal, Rock, R&B, and Dance/Electronic, but I’ll listen to anything and everything that strikes my fancy.
I love to swim, watch movies, anime, and binge shows, and go out to eat. And most of all, I love to read.
I would like to try a new hobby—crocheting or making homemade candles. I saw a video on how these custom homemade candles were made. I was so hypnotized.
What are you currently reading?
“Always Be Closing” and “the 4-hour work week”
What’s a piece of advice you’d like to share with your fellow writers and readers?
To my fellow writers, it's okay to take breaks from writing. You’re comeback will be better than ever!
To my awesome readers — Send me comments or hit me up on my socials, I love to hear from you! 💖
