Here’s a Controversial Perspective that We Can Gain Insights from

An interesting message from Dr. Paul Saladino

This is a short story to reflect an unusual thought from a YouTuber. I like people thinking beyond the box, even if their ideas are against my beliefs.

I thought this fresh and profound viewpoint from a young and dynamic physician with innovative thoughts could provide useful insights into the current situation. I usually enjoy his experiments with various diets. He is known as Carnivore MD on social media like YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram.

I have followed Dr. Paul Saladino for a few years on social media. His perspectives make sense to me even though I do not necessarily agree with all his views points about health and fitness.

However, his points always inspired me to research and find valuable research from the body of knowledge.

In my opinion, this alternative perspective is worth listening to and being heard.

The question is on social media:

Will he lose his medical license for questioning the status quo?

I hope not because his powerful message is good for the future of our society.

Some sentiments say we must not kill a goose that laid the golden eggs.

Dr Saladino says (in his Youtube channel with 49.2K subscribers):

I seriously doubt it, and what a ridiculously cowardly move by the physician on Twitter who was also inciting his followers to report me. In this episode of Controversial Thoughts for 4/14 I discuss what I see as the shortcomings of a quarantine strategy (the horror of questioning the groupthink!) and why I have some big concerns about what happens when this is all over. If the area under the curve (AUC) is the same for a quarantine strategy vs a more nuanced approach like Sweden, the SAME number of people will be exposed to coronavirus eventually= SAME number of deaths. Yes, it was important to not overwhelm healthcare systems, and in some locales like NYC this was very real, but many now seem to believe that we’ve somehow decreased the overall number of those who will be exposed- which we absolutely cannot claim as fact, or even as probable. Many models predict with an end to quarantine there will be an increase in the number of cases again, which is the usual pattern for a respiratory virus like this. Why do we believe this one will just disappear? SARS CoV2 is also likely to be around this summer, and next fall, what is our strategy for that? I’m not claiming to have all the answers, only to be offering another voice to the conversation and doing my best to think independently. This isn’t meant to be an echo chamber- what do you think? As always, please be civil and kind to your fellow humans. That’s what this is all about, really. I love you all and hope to HUG each and every one of you soon!

I believe the message of Dr Paul Saladino can provide a helpful perspective to society. My respect is high for his beyond-the-box thinking. His messages are worth listening. But they might not resonate with everyone.

It is great to have diverse sets of opinions that we all can gain insights from.

Thank you for reading my perspectives. I wish you a healthy and happy life.
