Abstract

The article "A Real Illusion" delves into the philosophical question of what constitutes reality versus illusion. It begins with the assertion that the world remains an illusion until we acknowledge it as real, yet even then, reality is tinged with illusion. The author illustrates this concept by describing the process of speaking words that appear on a phone screen, transitioning from a thought to written text, and then being read by others on their devices. This transition from thought to text and across devices is likened to a flicker of light, suggesting the intangibility of what we perceive as real. The article also includes a humorous video and links to related stories, inviting readers to explore the theme further. THINKING ALOUD

A Real Illusion

An ode to life.

The World is an Illusion until we call It Real. Yet the Reality remains an Illusion.

As I speak these words, they show up on my phone’s screen, as real; An Illusion that “moves” up as more words are spoken.

Now, you read them on your device, Be that a phone, a tablet, or a “computer” that computes not.

As real as I thought them when I spoke, As illusionary as they were on my device.

Just a flicker of light, a figment of the imagination. First mine, and now yours.

Is it Reality or an Illusion? Will we ever know?

Just for fun.

As always, thank you for reading and responding.
