It was the final days of 2023, and excitement permeated Octavia’s writing nook. The pens and markers eagerly listened in as Octavia shared her plans with a friend — she was venturing into the world of Romance and Erotica Stories. To add a touch of mystery, she had even chosen a new pen name: Giselle Greystorm.

“Ooooooh girl, this new writing venture sounds like it’s going to be so much fun!” Sharpie #3 said as made sure her cap was placed on tight so she wouldn’t dry out before her next manifestation session.

“Oh, honey, you know it!” Blue Bic chimed in, her smooth ink flowing like honey. “Giselle Greystorm is about to sprinkle some serious magic on those pages. I can feel it in my ink. Octavia’s been brewing up some tantalizing fantasies during her hibernation — the kind that makes you blush just thinking about it!”

S-Gel Sharpie let out a low whistle, “Mmm, spill the ink, sis! What kind of stories do you think Giselle Greystorm is going to lay down? I’ve heard whispers of sizzling romances and daring adventures. You know Octavia’s got a way with words.”

“Oh baby, don’t she! That girl is multi-talented. I’m glad she stopped listening to people telling her she should focus on one thing. She wasn’t in alignment with her human design type. A manifesting generator is supposed to do everything that lights their soul on fire and pivot when they’re ready to move on. Anyway, I think she’s going to write some love stories that include people of all ages, shapes, and sizes. Not every main character will have the perfect body and be filthy rich and traditionally beautiful. She’s going to mix it up!”

“Yeah, she’s a big ball of creative energy, but she’s been kinda neglecting us lately. Typing on that darn keyboard all the time. I want to shout out at her ‘HELLO, WE PENS WANT TO HELP YOU WRITE A STORY TOO!’” Bic #88 said as he checked his ink levels. He was starting to run out of ink. He’d been around awhile, he didn’t know when his time would come to go to Penven but he wanted to help do one last creative task before he did.

All the pens nodded in agreement.

“Mmmm hmmm, she has forgotten the power of the written word and not a typed word. Her word count is better when she writes in a notebook first as opposed to typing on her laptop,” Blue Bic said.

“ Yeah, working on her laptop she keeps getting distracted by that got dang Inner- net. All those open tabs. No wonder she can’t focus sometimes,” said Julie’s pen. A pen that was accidentally stolen from Octavia’s co-worker in 2018.

“Ummmm Grandma …. It’s INTERNET. Not inner-net, “Lil Bic said with a giggle.

The pens continued their gossip.

Blue Bic resumed talking, her cap bobbing with enthusiasm. “Giselle Greystorm is going to be the talk of the writing town. I can already see it — steam rising from the pages and readers fanning themselves!”

S-Gel Sharpie chuckled, “Well, I hope if she uses us she gives us some breaks in between those steamy scenes. We pens need to catch our breath too, you know!”

The rest of the bics and Sharpies joined in the laughter, “True that! But hey, it’s all in good fun. Octavia deserves a chance to let loose and explore a new writing frontier. Giselle Greystorm is about to take the literary world by storm, and we’re right there, in her ink, witnessing it all.”

They watch as Octavia retrieves her gold glitter notebook from the writing corner, its dazzling cover catching the light. With a contemplative gaze, Octavia spins the pen holder between her fingers, her eyes sweeping over the lively assortment of pens and markers. There’s a thoughtful curve to her smile as she carefully decides which ones to select to begin her writing session. Blue Bic and Sharpie #3 exchange knowing glances, feeling a flutter of excitement in their plastic bodies.

Octavia’s eyes continue to dance over the collection, her gaze lingering on the blue and black pens and markers. Blue Bic nudges Sharpie #3 playfully, “Looks like we’ve got a contender, sis. Think she’ll pick us for Giselle Greystorm’s debut?”

Sharpie #3 winks in response, “Oh, I’ve got a feeling. Our ink is practically tingling with anticipation. Get ready, Blue, we might just become the ink vessels for some seriously steamy stories.”

As Octavia finally makes her choice, she plucks Blue Bic and Sharpie #3 from the holder. Their caps click open simultaneously, ready to transcribe the fantasies and adventures that Giselle Greystorm’s mind is about to unleash.

Octavia settles into her writing nook, the pens poised above the gold-glittered pages. The room hums with creative energy, and Blue Bic and Sharpie #3 are poised for their roles in this new chapter of storytelling. They share an ink-tinged glance, knowing that beneath their sleek exteriors lies the power to bring Giselle Greystorm’s narratives to life.

2024 is about to be a steamy year.
