A Little Bit About Me
My Illumination introduction
Before I start writing anything about myself, I want to take a moment to thank Dr. Mehmet Yildiz for adding me on as a writer for Illumination! I am deeply honored and extremely excited to be writing amongst some pretty amazing writers!
Ok, So Here Goes…
My name is Julene Cole and I have been writing on Medium since the middle of July 2020. I have loved reading for as long as I can remember and have always excelled at spelling and grammar. I even had my own proofreading company for 2 years, which I thoroughly enjoyed!
I have dreamed of writing for just as long, but never got up the courage to pursue it until now. I first started with a blog at the beginning of this year, but that felt very niche-driven to me. Once I chose a subject for the blog, I felt I had to stick with it.
I discovered Medium in July and have been hooked ever since! I love the variety of subjects written on this platform. The authors I have connected with so far have all been supportive and helpful, and some of the nicest people I have ever conversed with.
I feel like I found my second family here!
My First Family
I am married with 3 grown sons, and I have 2 grandsons. I have lived in Southern California for almost 45 years, so I have definitely seen a lot of changes!
Five Random Facts About Me
- I am absolutely crazy about photographing sunsets! Most of my Instagram account is sunsets pictures. No matter where I am at (driving, walking the dogs, in the store parking lot), if I see a beautiful sunset, I grab my phone and take a picture!
- I am a very spiritual person. My aunt is a channeler of the Ascended Master Teachers, and I have been present during many of her channeling sessions. Every time is truly life changing.
- I have been on 5 cruises and am patiently (or impatiently?!?!) waiting for this pandemic to improve and cruise lines to start running again. My two favorite cruises were my very first one in 2014 to the Bahamas and a few islands around there; and my latest one in 2018, where we cruised around the different islands of Greece. Both were amazing and so beautiful! There is a 159-day cruise around the world that I dream of taking when we retire.
- I have run in 4 half-marathons. I have the goal of running a full marathon when I retire and have time to train more often. My favorite half marathon was the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon in Las Vegas, where we ran down the Vegas strip at night and different bands were playing along the route. I am not fast by any means, but I have finished all four!
- I just got my 34th tattoo — the names of my grandsons. My very first tattoo was in 1987 when I decided to get my oldest son’s name tattooed on my ankle. I have all of my children’s names, my husband’s name, my niece’s name, and a whole bunch of flowers amongst other designs. I am totally addicted! Oh, and 95% of my tattoos were done by the same artist.
